Do you trust the process?

The term “fake news” has made people more skeptical about news content than ever before. In recent years, people are now more focused on understanding who is giving out the information, “how it came together, and how it’s being paid for” (Bitterly). Kourtney Bitterly, a research lead for product and design, explained that news consumers want news sources to be more transparent. Providing a list of names of the people involved in the content-making process and specifying how the content was collected are two ways to increase transparency.

I believe that consumers will trust news sources more once these topics are addressed. I agree with Bitterly that “news organizations must let people in on the processes” because this is an important aspect to building trust between the audience and news outlets (Bitterly). Without trust, consumers will continue to question the authenticity of news sources.
