Fake news has been circulating the internet since the internets beginning. We warn our children to "not believe everything you see on the internet" , yet we still take the bait. Fake news often comes with a catchy title and an eye catching visual, peeking our interest. We can also fall victim to fake news due to our own laziness. Many people don't want to fact check the things they read so they just absorb the information if it goes along with an idea already formed inside their head. This idea is called confirmation bias its "the idea that we selectively seek out information that confirms our beliefs, truth be damned." People do this a lot when it come to subjects like politics. In order to stay away from fake news its important to comfort these biases when looking at news articles and fact check the journalist. By doing these two things you can greatly reduce the amount of fake news you consume.
