After many years of suffering from bipolar disorder, Elisa Lam finally decided to leave Canada and travel on her own. In February, 2013, Elisa arrived at Cecil Hotel which is downtown L.A and closed by Skid Row.
Even though Elisa showed certain signs of not being good while her stay at the hotel, the manager and other ones of the hotel’s staff still ignore her. Of course, there are many reasons why. As the former manager of the hotel explained in the documented series on Netflix, Skid Row area is very complicated because it’s where everyone having criminal and addiction backgrounds is thrown and gathered. She simply said, “it was stressful and heartbreaking” (BBC News). Elisa Lam’s last capture on CCTV is when she oddly acted in the elevator. Even though the cause of her death was determined due to her mental disorder and the lack of medicine’s intake, internet sleuths still believe that there should have been a mystery or a conspiracy theory involved. As my friend, Harry, said, “it’s so weird when you think about it. Someone might murder her and the staff lied about the cap opened.”
