Social media as a whole clearly has more viewers or users than a typical news paper reading or even news cast on TV. Most people gather their news from leading social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and even TikTok nowadays. But what we don't understand is we are seriously gathering information from the same place we view memes and comedic videos, aside from that we don't realize the source of the news we are receiving.

Due to this we can mistake real world problem news to fictional information viewed from social media."There's a price to pay when you get your news and political information from the same place you find funny memes and cat pictures, new research suggests." Meaning that there is a consequence to viewing the news through social media. "The study found that people viewing a blend of news and entertainment on a social media site tended to pay less attention to the source of content they consumed - meaning they could easily mistake satire or fiction for real news."
