In today’s society information is extremely easy to come by that we can stumble across news and information without even looking for it. However, having too much information dilutes the facts and can lead to fake news. For example, many people only read misleading headlines without actually reading the rest of the article which leads to people being misinformed and spreads fake news. In an article posted by Pratt Library, it states “A news headline may read one way or state something as fact, but then the body of the article says something different” Other people prefer to use apps like Twitter and Instagram to get their information but false information overtakes social media apps because fake news use rhetoric devices like pathos to appeal to our emotions or ethos by establishing credibility with a blue checkmark next to a name.
