Fake news is one of the most controversial and dividing problems every society faces. The idea of fake news has become increasingly more prevalent but you can identify it at many points throughout history and it has almost always been a tool used for political gain. In American history yellow journalism was introduced back in the 1890’s during the Spanish-American war. This was essentially news outlets creating eye-catching titles or dramatizing actual events in order to gain a larger audience and swaying public opinions. Amit Ray says “In this era of fake news and paid news artificial intelligence is more and more used as a political tool to manipulate and dictate common people, through big data, biometric data, and AI analysis of online profiles and behaviors in social media and smart phones.
