Fake News in The Time of A Pandemic

anna.fratiani

Our world is currently combating a global pandemic, also known as COVID-19. While there is some information on the virus available to the public, a lot of individuals are still unaware of all thats involved. According to an article run by Metro, a news website in the UK, half of the adult population was exposed to a misleading news article concerning the virus last week. "According to Ofcom, since the lockdown began, 35% of adults online have seen the false claim that drinking more water can flush out the infection, while around 24% saw false claims that gargling with salt water or avoiding cold food or drink can stop the virus." Because research and testing in still relatively in its infancy concerning COVID-19, 'fake news' is spreading more easily than ever.
