Fake News Part 1

Fake news has become a significant issue with younger generations. Now with all the different types of social media, and extraordinary easy access, the amount of fake news

children are reading has grown tremendously. Younger generations have trouble pointing out which news they are reading is credible or not. With the amount of fake news children are reading, the rates of this false information being spread escalate significantly more each year. Children are beginning to have trouble identifying which news they are reading is fake. To help stop this issue, sources like Education Weekly have conducted interviews from the National Assessment of Educational Progress. According to their research, as few as “a third of middle schoolers say they ‘rarely’ or ‘never’ learn how to judge the reliability of sources”. Education weekly has started to look at ways to help young kids identify what news they are reading may be fake, in hopes to protect them from spreading misinformation.
