Fake News Part 3

Writer's picture: madeline trosclairmadeline trosclair

Although sources like Education Weekly have begun conducting research on how to help kids to be more conscious of what news they are fake, it has not helped all kids. Reports from Stanford High Education Group have found that in a research of 3,500 kids in grades 9-12, only about “two-thirds had a ‘beginning’ level ability to judge information for accuracy, relevance and quality”. While Education Weekly has started research on ways to help younger generations pick apart fake news from the authentic, it has not helped older generations do the same. It may be assumed that highschoolers should know how to tell the difference between real and fake news, but in reality they have never been taught.
