Society is lucky enough to have mass amounts of information at our fingertips, but we fail to uncover what is valid underneath all the talk. Emily Gersema from USC News stressed that "...people are the superspreaders of fake news and misinterpreted information. USC scientists urge individuals to consider steps that they can take, even just to check themselves." Recent discoveries reveal that "most misinformation is spread by people — not by bots, foreign actors or troll accounts..." (Ferrara 1). The spread starts and ends with us, so understanding how to differentiate between genuine from false is more crucial than ever. Before choosing to believe one source rather than another, taking the time to research who published the information can save us all from comprehending the wrong news.
