Filter the Platform

In this new age of media, many are collecting their information from various sources at alarming rates. It is also no surprise, the outlets where one receives news also serve as platforms where one can share personal experiences, legal advice, or selfies on a night out. In other words, it is becoming impossible to avoid the news, even on your favorite social forum. A journal provided by the University of Mississippi states, "a Pew Research center survey report, 67 percent of adults receive their news from social media outlets and use that information to develop their own opinions." Being such a percentage significantly high in reliability, it can be encouraged to distinguish the platform of choice and intention using such media. It is known Twitter and Reddit both deliver media prominently. Which works best for one's preference is to be determined. Reddit serves as initial phase delivery, whereas Twitter manages through the news as it evolves. One can also consider whether it is important to be apart of a community or have an active following. On Twitter, trending tabs and keywords can benefit extensive research. Yet, Reddit can offer extensive knowledge providing forums catered to specific topics. Regardless, media can and should be filtered. Which platform best filters the media upon your screen? More importantly, are these factors considered when digesting media among forums?
