Fake news is a big problem in today's society, especially with the increase in online news it is much easier to fake something when people cant see it in person. The government says they are trying to combat this but it is also dangerous to let "the powerful regulate the powerful,"(Harper 1). Fake news is dangerous because the government can use it in ways to help them and they can partner with big tech and push their own agenda. One solution to this problem is to have public led iniatives to counter this fake news surge to help what the people see and to help find truth in this world of lies.
