First Glance

Writer: Connor ValvaConnor Valva

The first page of a newspaper is very key in attracting a person to read it. They must use certain components in order to make an easy, readable front page. For example, the Dallas Morning News and the Houston Chronicle use similar techniques on their front pages. Both front pages include multiple stories, images, a weather forecast, and the day of the week and date. Like on today's Dallas Morning News' newspaper, the big headline reads "Rivals try to trip up front-runner Sanders" which is about the the 2020 democratic debate. Under the headline you can find an image of the event and smaller text about the subject. Additionally, this story is put in the middle of the page so it is the first thing the reader sees. Each newspaper organizes it in its own way but using these techniques are crucial on having a good front page.
