After reading about Hunter S. Thompson, you will discover that this was a journalist that liked to live on the wild side. With his adventures in following the Hells Angels for a year to writing the famous book of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", that later turned into a movie. With his time spent with the Hells Angels, he documented the lives of the dangerous biker gang when America feared them most. The New York times mentions, " a world most of us would not dare encounter." The writer wrote all his adventures with the gang in the book, "Hell's Angels: The Strange and Terrible Saga of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs." In the book he describes that he went drinking with the gang, documented their crimes, and even was caught in their sexual activities. After his success with the book, he took another look on the wild side. Around 1971, the journalist wanted to write about the American dream with Chicano activist and attorney, Oscar Zeta Acosta. In this time-frame, it was very difficult to be able to talk opening with a Chicano activist and they decided to take a trip together in where they would come up with ideas to write about the American dream in the midst of political and drug era. The book gained such great insight that it turned into a movie, "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream." With the chances and challenges that Thompson faced, he did not mind going past the limits of journalism at this time.
