Studying up on the way many different news articles layout their front pages showed me just how similar each one is. The main goal of the front page is to draw its readers in, and to give the most hard-hitting and attention-grabbing headlines the spotlight. Nuseum gives us a view of different front page articles from around the world, and scrolling through their site just reiterates the idea that attention-grabbing is the way to go. Each page has at least one large photo with an interesting headline. The creative use of color by each newspaper also brings attention to the most important parts of the articles. One of my favorite pages was from Traverse City's Record Eagle, depicting a nurse with a mask on and the head line "Not On Their Watch." It went on to read "Medical workers fill in for loved ones in final moments during pandemic." This article showed how tragic the times are, with people unable to attend to their family while in the hospital, and how healthcare workers are not only on the front lines of this pandemic, but are also being emotionally drained by being the only faces on the deathbed of so many.
