Front Page Rhetoric

I will be comparing two front pages from the 2008 and 2016 presidential election. First from the Daily Anchorage news, "Obama Makes History". It's a straight forward front page with the title in bold black letters with a picture of Obama smiling and waving. Below the image is Sarah Palin looking down with an individual who is clapping.

USA Today simply states "President Trump" as its headline with "In stunning upset, billionaire candidate scores white house Victory" as a descriptive subtitle. A picture of Trump looking onward and clapping occupies most of the front page.

Both election front pages share many rhetorical elements in getting their message across. They have simple short titles that do not simply state "Candidate wins US election". For example, "President Trump" gets the message across in 2 words leaving the audience to make the logical connection. Each picture of the presidents are positive in connotation.
