In the usual social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter our news is customized for us. Where we expect information and entertainment, we get it. Since Smartphones have been an American staple for almost a decade now, there are now those who may have entirely missed out on the unchangeable merging of news and entertainment in America.
Before your news was tailored to you, you had to watch "Last Week Tonight" just like the rest of us, and you had to watch the current news on multiple stations to really "get" the jokes. Comedy Central, for a moment, held as much weight as any news station in my house. News, collectively, has become such a "joke" and we might have missed the point.
