Recently COVID 19 cases were falling and states were looking to reopen their economies, so that they can make money of course, however recently there has been a large spike in cases and Abbott is not too happy about that as he is now closing bars and restricting restaurants he defended this by saying "At this time, it is clear that the rise in cases is largely driven by certain types of activities, including Texans congregating in bars." The executive order that he signed also closes down rafting and tubing businesses. This comes after Governor Abbott has been very willing to reopen his economy, but he defends himself with "As I said from the start, if the positivity rate rose above 10%, the State of Texas would take further action to mitigate the spread of COVID-19" currently the positivity rate has reached 11%.
