Newspapers may provide vastly different arrays of content, but the basic layout to entice a reader to continue is generally the same across all outlets. Most media outlets will highlight the biggest event in their area such as the "firefall [disappointing] and [thrilling] Yosemite tourists" being reported near Yellowstone park, or the "recording breaking low temperatures across Texas during the week" being reported in Dallas. The outlet then typically places a picture below the title, to capture the readers attention. After the picture, most newspapers will then insert text. If text were to be inserted first, most people would not even read it because their eyes would direct below it to the larger picture on the page. These techniques help to keep the reader, well, reading! Different fonts, colors, and outlines are also present on the page to make the viewers eyes bounce to different sections, as well as make the page more visually appealing.
