Watching news on social medias become a new trend for the young generation and the social medias apps all spare no effect to present their news feeds in many aspects to attract more viewers.
When compare with the page arrangement, Facebook wisely put a clear, appropriate picture on top and the title on the bottom for every news list. It is very easier to catch viewers' attention with the visual pictures at the first glance. However, Twitter put the title on the left side and picture on the right side for every news list. To make things worse, the picture is quite a small, it is not so as clear as Facebook's picture. What's more, Facebook use moderate type size and inversely, Twitter's use smaller type size, which made it not as legible as Facebook.
Furthermore, Facebook sorts the news in different catalogs such as COVID-19 Pandemic, Health, and Science & Tech. It is easier for viewers to look for topics they are interested in base on the catalogs. On the contrary, Twitter doesn't sort their news, so it is not so convenient for the viewers to look for specific news.
Ultimately, I see every news listed in Facebook will show the emoji and like icon, though I don't know what they are used for. Maybe for the algorithm to filter news? To be honest, I don't know how the algorithm design work on both Facebook and Twitter. And Facebook news feeds algorithm has changed because it received a lot of complains. Expert Jonathan Albright once criticize Facebook "acted as amplification services for websites" to "spread propaganda during the 2016 election"
However, despite the criticize and only focus on the news presentation, I think Facebook outweigh than Twitter.
