After comparing two front pages for cities in Colorado, there is a very big difference between the visuals and text in creating an impact on their readers. In the Rocky Mountain Collegian, the main cover is a singular design with the focus of the newspaper on the story that is it wants to bring attention to. It achieves by limiting the description for the story on the front page in order to get the reader to look inside. The design they use on the front is interesting but fails to provide information regarding the article. Whereas The Daily Sentinel, there are numerous stories on just the front page. The main story is in big bold letters, while other miniature stories are smaller on the side or on the bottom. It has a mixture of both local and national stories. This directly informs the reader in a simplistic but to-the-point tone. The photos used on the front provide information the story thus leading for a more effective strategy for those wanting to be informed. In the title “Pot rules, ice rink ahead for city council”, the newspaper goes to highlight the rules surrounding legal marijuana in a direct and informed way.
