Instagram's Theory Of Attraction

A new era has emerged. People are beginning to shift their attention away from more in depth media accessibility such as Facebook, where one can easily share as much information as one desired. Nowadays "of the young adult population, 53% are on Instagram, and 26% of Adults as well"-Matt Southern. These statistics demonstrate society's ever growing want to obtain information quicker and easier. One large success of Instagram is the ability to communicate ideas through words instead of pictures. Users have a "feed" they are able to scroll through which displays the most recent posts of people you follow. Instead of a post box, there is rather a comment section for people to input their opinion, as well as a like and a share button. These factors are what make Instagram such an attractive piece of media. As people's attention spans become shorter and shorter, all you have to do nowadays is double tap a picture to show support. This also promotes a sense of false information however. As anyone is able to post whatever is within the guidelines on Instagram, a post just needs to have a lot of likes to be spread around, not any truth behind it. I could post a picture of a monkey with a pigs body, and if it got enough likes, people would possibly begin to think that this mutated animal actually existed! Instagram is a very entertaining piece of media, because of your ability to obtain a lot of information very quickly. However, I feel the information should be taken with a grain of salt, and rather be looked on for entertainment purposes. Leave news reports to the news channels, if you ask me.
