International Students and Their Stories in Foreign Countries

Moving somewhere else to live is difficult for all of us. But it’s nothing compared to moving to a completely different country. Being international students is challenging and struggling sometimes because they do not only deal with changes in language, but with cultures and academies as well. According to Shams Vahedi in an article of University Business, “travel bans and shifts in international relationships of the past four years often left international students in the lurch, uncertain of how their status in the United States might shift from day-to-day and understandably fearful that their Visa status being thrown into question—or worse—could prevent them from completing their education.” Not only do they have to pay much more for their tuition, they also don’t grant many rights for themselves. Apparently, during the pandemic, it gets even worse for international students. One of my brother’s friends said, “I was kicked out of UNT’s dorm because they said they have to quarantine the dorm. I had no place to go for a couple weeks. England was shut down and did not allow international flights anymore. I had to move to different friends’ houses to stay but not long because of the precautions for COVID-19.” At the same time, ICE was announced that international students should be deported back to their countries, while their countries were not open for incoming flights. International students need more rights.
