The work of journalists and detectives are common premises for many great movies looking to tell stories of extraordinary events. Even though the purpose of detective work and investigative journalism greatly differ, both generally share the same goal of digging up information for the greater good. No group of journalists is better known for this than the Spotlight team from The Boston Globe, the stars of the 2015 movie "Spotlight". Their true story shows the challenges they faced in providing evidence of the Catholic Church's cover-up of elaborate and extensive child sexual abuse by the Catholic priests. "We've got two stories here: a story about degenerate clergy, and a story about a bunch of lawyers turning child abuse into a cottage industry. Which story do you want us to write? Because we're writing one of them."
