Journalism in The Future - The Audio Web

cecheverria11

Writer Steven Henn illustrates a future where the use of audio on the web is as relevant and useful as that of text. Citing the rising popularity of podcasts, Henn argues that even though audio media is not yet interactive or easy to share, the use of audio as an immersive and interactive tool is possible within the near future with the use of technology like "Detour," a startup meant to bring location-aware audio walks into the hands of consumers. In my opinion, I think the biggest advantage of making audio a prevalent medium of interacting with the web is facilitating web browsing for blind and disabled people. It would be an exciting development and a game-changer for many that struggle to take part in consuming text-based media. "Audio is becoming interactive — this is just the beginning." https://techcrunch.com/2018/04/24/bose-acquires-andrew-masons-walking-tour-startup-detour/
