Judge a book by its cover

Newspaper.

At first glance, we think of newspapers as an older form of obtaining news. With the evolution of technology over the last 10 years, it seems this world is leaning toward digital news faster than ever. After all, with just a click of a button, anyone can open an article about the stock market, COVID-19, etc. However, newspaper can still tell a bigger story that has nothing to do with what exactly is being said, but how it is being said.

Let's take the above newspapers, "The New York Times" and "Daily Mail," for instance. "The New York times" is as far left leaning as the "Daily Mail" is as far right leaning. Thus, the playing field is even and we can now evaluate what the newspapers are telling us about themselves from their front cover.

First off, there is one major difference between the two papers, amount of stories. When you look at "Daily Mail," its biggest story is "UK'S SET TO ROAR BACK!" Does this title not scream economy all over it? After all, the UK is not in any sort of big war so it must mean economics. Besides that main article and 1 or 2 side articles, the "Daily Mail" does not seem to be grasping the reader with multiple different stories but instead one big story about the UK's economy. On the other hand, "The New York Times" describes multiple stories from Christian Prophecy Movement to COVID-19 vaccines. In addition, "The New York Times" seems to be focusing on issues outside of the economy such as Trump's defeat and how "Republicans Seem Unswayed" after the events that have transpired over the last month.

All in all, each front page tells its own story. This in turn helps us judge to read or not read. To view more covers like these, I strongly suggest visiting https://www.freedomforum.org/todaysfrontpages/
