Know-it-alls are No Fun

What happens after "fake news" is discovered & reported? What's the next step for those who have achieved media literacy?

With renewed skepticism, it could be hard to believe anything reported--in print and broadcast. According to a poll conducted by the Knight Foundation and Gallup, mistrust of what the media reports stems from "a general lack of credibility and the fact that reports are 'based on opinions or emotions'”. People want to be able to trust in those whose job is to be a credible, professional source. However, there is a flip side.

Some, like Robert Breuer, believe fake news is a good thing. "Fake news is there to entertain people, so they can enjoy the absurdity of humans in everyday life," he wrote. Arguably, those who take nothing at face value should be able to tell the real from the fake news. He stated, "Fake news is a blessing and should be appreciated as such."

The FCC, Hong Kong says, "lie through your teeth to an audience that is not interested in facts and welcomes these 'alternative' facts as the new gospel: fake news is good news, if it suits you."

It's just that simple, for some.
