Davis is a professor of communication and journalism; she believes that in 2020, “Election coverage and media manipulation are going to be worse than in 2016, not better.” She says that journalists nowadays tend to just state things that the public already knows about. She says that journalists need to focus on the future and learn to be more adaptable and more willing to step outside of the status quo. Davis says that journalism is “a piece of the puzzle for audiences, rather than the dominant narrative” and that they must be “more thoughtful, relevant, and transparent” to move forward in our society. The context that journalists report from will determine the direction that the journalism field will go in the year 2020.
