In the midst of all the craziness happening around the world, misinformation and false accusations have grew. This 'misinformation' is what we commonly know as 'Fake News': a term popularized by President Donald Trump during his 2016 presidential campaign. While flimsy news sources are often known to fumble the 'fake news' ball, celebrities and influencers often do as well. Most recently Woody Harrelson and singer MIA shared "baseless claims about the supposed connection of 5G to the pandemic" which earned them criticism from the media. On the other side of the spectrum, Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, has been criticized for downplaying the severity of COVID-19. These false claims made by all parties can be detrimental when the size of their followings and influence is taken into account.
