In an article by Aaron Foley, Journalists are facing criticism after the eventful year of 2020 highlighted the lack of representation that people of color face as a journalist in today's newsrooms. Being neglected opportunities and stories that get passed onto the average white male, currently dominating the news industry. Aaron Foley reporting that multiple publications in his hometown in Detroit, also the largest black-majority city, have laid off two black reporters and their positions have been filled both by white males, both graduated from Michigan State. "What general market local newsrooms fail to understand is that readership is inextricably tied to representation." I agree with this completely, escpecially during an election year, multiple sources of diversity are needed to accurately account for all factors when it comes to an audience and what publication they pick to read.
