The new controversy surrounding the recent lifting of the mask requirement has caused quite the drama among Americans, specifically Texans. The community seems to be pretty split about whether or not it was a smart decision or not. While some places are still trying to enforce it, a lot of people around Texas seem to be embracing the newfound freedom. “I don’t think it matters, especially in restaurants,” Palio’s Pizza Café worker, Avery Porter says. “Everyone is taking their masks off to eat anyways, and besides, now everyone’s getting vaccinated.” It’s clear that Miss Porter’s views are driven by logic and realism. Others might argue that restaurants are only a small part of the public spaces being filled with mask-less people now, or that the vaccine isn’t available to everyone, but one thing is to be assumed- we are probably not going back to a fully masked society anytime soon.
