There has been thousands of layoffs and closures from journalism companies, even big companies such as BuzzFeed and Vice. Some journalists have had to work part-time or in temporary fellowships just to make enough money to live off of. Journalist Rachel Glickhouse says she "personally experienced the turbulence of this industry — getting laid off from a staff job after relocating, taking jobs without benefits, and working time-limited positions" (NeimanLabs). These layoffs aren't only hurting the journalists, but the media industry as a whole. As of right now, there is no solution to this issue. "Journalists will continue to lose their jobs and have to make important decisions about their livelihoods" (NeimanLabs).
