Neutrality vs. Objectivity game

Tonya Mosley is a co-host for NPR midday news. She wrote an article that highlights how people of color battle the idea that they do not have the skill to not be objective because of the color of their skin. She explains how the systematic racism expressed in the journalism world needs to change. "This flawed way of thinking also assumes that white journalists have a neutral point of view. News as we know it was built on this idea — that cultural norms, ideas, and points of view, which have historically come from white journalists, are neutral." (Mosley) She brings up how National Geographic is trying to break their set ideals after realizing how racism shaped their way of journalism. Mosley ends her short article with a To Do's list as we enter the new year, which explains that the key to solid journalism for 2020 is to listen, diversify, and to banish the idea of “bothsidesism” or the idea that there must be a side you stand on.
