Continuing from my last post with instagram my next topic is comparing it to an app called Nextdoor. This is an app made for communities to spread news, ask questions and keep the neighborhood informed. This can be very helpful when needing to reachout to someone who lives nearby, or to help spread news when something happens and communicate with one another. This may not always be a good thing “Social networks connect people, but many of those connections degrade into vitriol.” people can start to get annoyed with their community too. Since this app is based on spreading news and staying informed, people also spread things that are not important in return causing a lot of hate to spread through the app as well.
