We receive news in different ways based on personal preference. Some people might like to receive their news through apps, social media, podcasts, news channels and newspapers. But what makes a certain news provider stand out? Their strategies! Different news sources use strategies to try and draw people in. Looking at two different apps, Apple News and Google News, we can compare the strategies they use to grab readers attention. Both of these apps use large images that fill up the page to give the reader and idea what the article is going to be about. They also use an attention grabbing title to make you want to click on this news story. Since they are both apps, they are also updated almost instantly and news can be distributed much faster compared to other news sources. Overall these apps don't have any major differences. In the article Advantages of News Distribution Through Apps over Print Media by Devanshu Lama it describes why news is better through online sources. Lama explains, "Newspapers print the information of previous day and distribute it to readers the next day which means if something has happened yesterday somewhere then you will come to read that today if you are a newspaper reader but with apps, one gets the live news of incidents taking place around the globe." Both of these apps are updated every second giving the readers new information. This keeps them wanting more since it is so quick and recent.
