No More Fake News: Teaching Sessions for Seniors

schae31

According to the New York Times, there are several efforts to stop spreading fake news to older people. Currently, this pandemic, an era of serious confusion, makes older people susceptible to not only the virus, but also overloaded fake news. To prevent the spread of fake news, online webinars, classes, and videos teach seniors about how to detect misinformation in various media. A publisher of this post Amy Yee says that “Senior Planet’s one-hour online session gives an overview of different kinds of misinformation circulating on the internet, including manipulated “deep fake” videos, false advertising and fabricated news.” Also, AARP offers a MediaWise for Seniors, a website which states the information about online seminars, and AARP FraudWatch, a website that collects the data about recent fraud targeting older adults.
