I am a junior at Allen High School and I have noticed that there has been a recent issue of there being no more parking spots in the blue lot. This is due to the current sophomores that are turning sixteen and getting their license. To park at the high school you are required to buy a parking pass from the school. I think that the school is overselling these parking spots, causing too many people to try and fit in limited space. I recently spoke with a student, named Rachel Olfson, to hear her thoughts about the available parking spots. She said, "I think the parking lot is overcrowded and something needs to be done. The other day I had to park in the back of the lot next to a curb because I was going to be late to class since I couldn't find parking. I wasn't the only one who had to resort to parking not in an actual spot." I think that the school should either stop selling so many parking stickers and force the sophomores to park in the red lot or to build a parking garage. I recently read an article over the benefits of parking garages and it states, "They have the ability to accommodate twice as many vehicles in the same space as conventional parking." Rachel used a personal story to back her point up. Overall the parking is a major issue and something needs to change for there to be enough room for our growing school.
