Politics in Professional Sports

Recently the MLB has decided to pull their All-Star Game from Georgia. Georgia recently passed a voter ID law that requires a person to show an ID in order to vote in elections. Several people and organizations including the president are opposed to the newly passed law claiming that it is racist. The commissioner of the MLB issued a statement saying, "MLB fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions at the ballot box". Some from the opposing side have voiced their confusion by pointing out that the new location of the All-Star game in Colorado has very similar voting laws to Georgia. Both states now require an ID to be shown at the ballot box. This begs the overall question of should sports stay out of politics?
