Journalists, especially those a part of marginalized groups, deal with a lot. Journalist Tonya Mosey says “trust me — every person of color in your newsroom has a story about how a manager questioned either their news judgment, their diction, or whether they could be neutral or objective.” The rhetoric she used in this quote appears very powerful. She appeals to the reader by opening with the fact that we should trust her, and then we see her explain how non white people are unfairly singled out in the workforce. By appealing to both ethos and pathos, readers feel inclined to believe her and want to help.
