Progress on Offshore Crime

Writer's picture: Aanchal MohapatraAanchal Mohapatra

In a recent article, Will Fitzgibbon, a reporter for ICIJ (International Consortium of Investigative Journalists), brings attention to the ongoing “fight against offshore financial secrecy and chicanery”. He takes various sources from “Attiya Waris, a professor of fiscal law and policy at the University of Nairobi, Kenya” to “ Lakshmi Kumar, policy director at Global Financial Integrity, a research and advocacy group” who serve to inform the reader about the progress made in this area since the release of the Panama Papers (released by more than 100 media partners which exposes the corruption and tax evasion of politicians and businessmen). He chooses to highlight the past ICIJ investigations as well as show the necessary measure for the future.
