With many events that were occurring in 2020, such as the Election and the continued Coronavirus, Twitter aimed to put a slow to misinformation during the election.
They implemented certain techniques to slow down the spread of misinformation. In an article written by Kate Conger from The New York Times, she speaks about the tactics Twitter is using to temporarily solve this issue. Conger explains that "the company will essentially give users a timeout, for example, before they can hit the button to retweet a post from another account", and along with that "users who share content that Twitter has flagged as false, a notice will warn them they are about to share inaccurate information".
Although this adjustment was only geared for the election and COVID-19 related tweets, Twitter could further use this for other topics throughout Twitter. This adjustment is the first move to stopping misinformation for good.
