A big topic that has been brought up throughout the year 2020 and into 2021 is systematic racism. As there is a lot of prejudice against people of color, specifically women of color, their articles are often less read or disregarded. However, a new topic through 2021 will most likely be the uprising of these people. “We cannot truly consider ourselves stewards of public trust and information is we aren’t embodying equity at every level,” writes Jean Friedman-Rudovsky and Cassie Haynes in their article, “a shift from conversation to action”. We, as a society, can not claim to show the country through the news based on the people’s beliefs if it is only coming from those of privilege. We must be able to hear the voices of everyone, especially people of color.
