Remembering Anthony Bourdain: Chef, Journalist

Growing up as a kid, I was never into the shows all my friends were into, I loved watching shows like Man Vs. Food, Andrew Zimmern and Anthony Bourdain because the idea of being able to travel all over the country and the world and meeting new people and trying different foods fascinated me. Anthony Bourdain had the single most impact in my young adult life when it came to learning about the different cultures all over the world and it was so saddening to hear that such a great man passed away. He was a dishwasher, line cook, journeyman chef, an actor, and an accidental journalist. Anthony inspired the millions through his food journalism and how he educated millions on traditional restaurant made and home cooked meals from across the globe as well as educating people on the culture. According to Helen Rosner, a writer for, The New Yorker, states "Anthony Bourdain built his career on the telling of truth" and expressed how he was a strong supporter of the "Me Too" movement. The New York Times obituary stated that he was, "the macho, unrepentant, drug- loving chef-evolved into that of a clear eyed crusader for global food justice." He was a food journalist giant that has impacted the world.
