Reporting the Pandemic

The author notes that while there are global challenges of the coronavirus, they are depicted locally and vary greatly through that lens. The article compares four countries: UK, Italy, France, and South Korea. People across the globe are equal, and relying on their government for clear, accurate, and timely information. The responses of governments have been inconsistent. Lack of organized communication, or any communication at all, and transparency spurred confusion and distrust. In Italy,” despite the forced closure of major newsrooms—journalists in Italy have kept plugging away” like may other journalists all around the world. South Korea was recognized for its thoroughness and transparency, as the article pointed out lacked public trust and civic awareness. As stated, fighting a pandemic is as much about information as it is medical technology
