Sam Loewenburg's work during the Somalian Famine

There are many influential journalists in the world today. Many of them bring light to many different issues that lots of people do not see just by looking at the daily news. A journalist by the name of Sam Loewenberg works for many different news sources such as The Economist, The New York Times, The Guardian, and many more. Loewenberg’s work brought attention to the famine that the country of Somalia was experiencing. Loewenberg traveled to Somalia in order to report on the story and what he found was a very serious situation. He reported that tens of thousands of Somalian residents are fleeing the country and going to Kenya in order to escape the famine. While Sam was there and doing his research, he also tried his best to help people flee the country. This led Sam to publish an emotional story of a mother “cradling a severely malnourished child” and their journey across Somalia and into Kenya(Loewenberg).
