Saving Forests for Saving Life on Earth

We cannot deny the importance of trees in sustaining life on earth. In every aspects of our lives we depend on trees, from the oxygen we inhale for surviving to the woods we utilize for building houses. It is our duty to perverse forests for saving ourselves, wildlife as well the environment as trees minimize environmental pollution by reducing greenhouse gases. In this post, I am going to analyze a report by Jill Schwartz, a reporter of WWF (World Wildlife Fund), who mentions in her report, the importance of preserving the most threatened rainforests in the world. The headline of the report which is written with bold and large font size is called “11 of the world’s most threatened forests.” The subheading is called “WWF report identifies regions at risk for catastrophic deforestation by 2030 and what must be done to save them.” The headline and subheading both appeal to the readers through their wordings. The words “at risk” appeals to the emotions of the reader and make the reader realize about the significance of the situation and for that reason readers understand the need for immediate actions. The words “what must be done to save them” make the readers think that they can also do something in this regard. The headline and subheading also engage the readers to read the whole story. Then, the author goes on talking about the forests, such as the location of the forests, the wildlife they preserve, and the causes of deforestation. The author uses pictures of trees and animals which act as visual elements to appeal to the reader. Finally, the authors states that “Without action, the world could lose up to 656,000 square miles of forest land—an area more than double the size of Texas.” The author also suggests, “Deforestation accounts for 15 percent of global carbon emissions which is more than the total emissions from all the cars, trucks, trains, planes and ships in the world. If deforestation is reduced, climate change could be greatly reduced.” Through the report, the author persuades the reader to think about the adverse effects that are caused by “forest degradation” and how saving these endangered forests will be beneficial for survival of life on earth.
