Parachute journalism goes away by Kevin D. Grant was an interesting read on how communities should rely own their own journalist for events rather than outside journalist coming to get a scoop. This being a great notion as Grant describes parachute journalism leads to "a distorted picture back to the community being covered, potentially inflaming existing fault lines within the community" .
Grant's solution to ending parachute journalism is by funding more local journalism organization in those communities. Efforts have actually been taking place; companies
like LION, The New York Times, and Frontline have been funding and creating new organizations to seize outside involvement from people who don't live with what is going on in those places.
A problem that many journalists won't have to worry about it in the near future.
