The same journalist from my previous post, Kaleena Fraga from allthatsintersting.com, discusses how researchers want to send “6.7 million samples of seeds, sperm, eggs, and DNA to a vault on the Moon.” She uses an interesting rhetorical strategy at the beginning of her story by using a metaphor to compare this idea to how Noah saved a bunch of different animal species by bringing them on his ark. She explains how an innumerable amount of disasters could occur on Earth at any time and keeping all this DNA vaulted on the moon would be a helpful safety net to society. Some other key rhetorical strategies Fraga used in her story include scientists' quotes, which gives her more credibility, and interesting diagrams of potential vault designs on the moon.
