Smartmatic Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Fox News for $2.7 Billion

As of February 4, 2021, Software company, Smartmatic has filed a lawsuit against Fox Corporation. The lawsuit was filed in New York State Court in Manhattan. Smartmatic has said that the lawsuit is "for defamation and disparagement as a result of the disinformation campaign against Smartmatic by Fox and other named defendants following the 2020 US presidential election." Smartmatic files this lawsuit in response to multiple reports by Fox News and others implying that Smartmatic manipulated the US 2020 election. Fox News has yet to reply. Each article used its own preconceived thoughts on the situation to persuade their own audience.
