Social media was created as a way to share small parts of our lives on the internet with our friends and family. Throughout the years, it has gained much more popularity to the point where there are celebrities based on social media called "influencers" that people tend to follow. Additionally, social media has also become a new platform for news to circulate. "According to a newly published Pew Research Center report 55% of US adults now get their news from social media either 'often' or 'sometimes'". Social media platforms use algorithms to provide personalized content and news that the consumer would be interested in. These measures are a public rhetoric as seeing posts that mostly apply to their beliefs persuades people to continue to use social media.
